               Welcome to the comp.sys.atari.8bit newsgroup!

You've found the Usenet newsgroup for discussion about the Atari 8-bit
family of computers!  These include the 400, 800, 1200XL, 600XL, 800XL,
65XE, 130XE, 800XE, and the XE Game System.  Atari (based in Silicon Valley,
California, USA) produced this line of computers from 1979-1992.

NEWSGROUP BACKGROUND:
comp.sys.atari.8bit was created in November 1986, and is unmoderated.
There is no charter for comp.sys.atari.8bit.  (It pre-dates that custom.)
This newsgroup was known as net.micro.atari8 from Feb 1986 to Nov 1986.
The earlier net.micro.atari existed from Nov 1982 to Nov 1986.

Please don't try to post binaries in comp.sys.atari.8bit, use the appropriate
binaries groups instead.
